In combination with the VOSSRing preassembly studs, VOSSRing also meets high demands placed on assembly reliability and leak prevention. That is confirmed by a series of certifications such as the recent permit for gas applications. The cutting ring had already been granted certificates for the marine and offshore sectors from all major international classification societies. It is now seamlessly integrated into the fluid specialist’s complete range of couplings: They are mostly approved for both the marine and offshore sectors as well as for gas applications. One particularity is certification of the 24° conical seal couplings (German DKO) for the gas sector.
The independent auditing company DNV • GL has tested the cutting ring and released it for the international market for a maximum nominal pressure of 800 bar. The release also applies to operation with hydraulic and lubricating oil, heavy fuel oil, steam and even for the safe transport of fresh and seawater. The auditors in DNV • GL also performed bursting pressure, leakage and combined pressure impulse and bending fatigue strength tests. During this, the VOSSRing achieved the highest degree of protection against leaks and compressive strength.
The VOSSRing is approved by DVGW for the transport of compressed air, gas and liquid gas by public gas companies in Germany. The maximum operating pressure (MOP) here according to the DVGW certificate is allowed up to 250 bar. The operating temperature is stated for a range between -20°C and 60°C. Furthermore, a constituent of the certificate is approval of the 24° conical seal couplings (DKO). The conical seal attached to the coupling body creates an especially secure and permanently stable access connection. The connection also attains its high degree of fine leakproofness through an embedded O-ring.
