Parker Hannifin, a global leader in motion and control technologies, contributed time and goods to the local community in Tembisa (South Africa) in support of the 10th annual Nelson Mandela International Day.
On Nelson Mandela International Day, thousands of South Africans head out to spend 67 minutes in commemoration of the late former president Nelson Mandela’s birthday.
Mandela would have turned 101 on July 18. Former president Jacob Zuma introduced the initiative in 2009 to celebrate Mandela’s birthday by encouraging others to do an act of kindness and for the public to get more involved with charitable organizations.
Parker Hannifin Sales Company South Africa visited Kids Haven (a non-project organization based in Benoni) with volunteers who spent some quality time with the children. Volunteers also assisted with covering the children’s schoolbooks.
Parker Hannifin also visited the Harriers Running Club, located in the nearby Tembisa township area, and donated 67 blankets to children, parents and grandparents. Volunteers spent some quality time with families and assisted with cleaning the surrounding area.
