Semperit A.G. Holding is selling the Semperflex hose production site in Rovigo, Italy, to the Maltec Group.
The sale is a step toward groupwide complexity reduction in its restructuring process, Martin Fuellenbach, Semperit chairman of the management board, said in a company news release.
According to the Semperflex website, the facility in Rovigo produces industrial hoses up to 609 millimeters in diameter as well as offering hose ends for specialized applications.
The sale of the Italian factory follows the expansion of Semperit’s Odry, Czech Republic location, which became a process-optimized producer of large volumes in the quality and high-performance sector, said Fuellenbach. With that development, the Roiter location no longer fit within the company’s production footprint.
Matec will add special rubber hoses to its portfolio with the deal, he said.
Semperflex will continue to focus on the Odry facility and two large Asian facilities, as well as its headquarters in Wimpassing, Austria.
Semperit launched a company-wide restructuring and transformation project in February. The restructuring focuses on four measures—creation of more efficient operational production and procurement processes; improvement of pricing and price-setting processes; reviewing and determining if changes within the business portfolios are needed and if adaptations within the production sites are necessary; and stabilization and sustainable improvement of operational earnings.
